NYC Grid: With a focus on the mundane and ephemeral.
“NYC Grid is a photo blog dedicated to exploring New York block-by-block and corner-by-corner. Updated every weekday, each post covers a new street with a focus on the mundane and ephemeral.”
This is a great idea and a great way to start my new blog too. Those of living or working in large cities tend to only see a very small part of it, and that normally includes the block directly around work or live and then the road you drive (or cycle) to get there.
What the NYC Grid tries to do is to raise awareness of the lesser known parts of New York. The gems that’s right there, that everyone seem to miss because they’re all going about their daily routine.
It’s done in the form of a photo blog with beautiful photos, a little write-up and Google maps to the exact location they feature in the particular post. That way you can easily choose which places you would like to explore and easily find them.
I feel that all large cities around the world need sites like these.
